An erect plant, can reach up to 50 cm.
Plant with basal leaf rosette at flowering whereas Centaurium pulchellum 美麗百金花, the Lesser Centaury, without it.
Leaves ovate to oblong whereas Centaurium littorale, the Seaside Centaury, has linear leaves.
Flowers sessile, clustered; 1-2 bracts at base of clayx whereas the flowers of Centaurium pulchellum 美麗百金花, the Lesser Centaury, have flower stalks 1-4 mm, bracts 1-4 mm below base of calyx.
