Crocus nudiflorus 裸花番紅花, 走莖番紅花

Common name: Autumn Crocus
Scientific name: Crocus nudiflorus 裸花番紅花, 走莖番紅花
Genus: Crocus 番紅花屬
Family: Iridaceae 鳶尾科, iris family

Origin: Neophyte (established after 1500 AD). It is a native of S. W. France and N. Spain. It is introduced into cultivation before 1600 and was first recorded in the wild in 1738.

flowers with purple tepals; those flowers with white tepals are believed to be the older flowers, flowers open again on the second day

freshly opened flower, the white anthers are very fresh and the style is still very short (at another location, 10th Oct)

even later flower, the style is fully developed whereas the anthers now wither a little bit and become yellow in color
