Origin: Archaeophyte (established before 1500 AD.) It has a European Southern-temperate districution.

146 The bracts surrounding the base of the flower are in 3 layers, green with membranous edging. Bracts and flower stalks are hairless.  (vs The bracts surrounding the base of the flower are  darker green to brownish down the center with a narrow band of pale membranous edging but darker brown at the tip. Bracts and flower stalks are hairless, sometimes sparsely hairy when young in Tripleurospermum inodorum, scentless mayweed.)

Matricaria discoidea 同花母菊

Common name: Pineapple-weed
Scientific name: Matricaria discoidea 同花母菊
Genus: Matricaria 母菊屬
Family: Asteraceae or Compositae 菊科, aster , daisy, composite or sunflower family

Origin: Neophyte (established after 1500 AD). Native to northeast Asia. Although cultivated in 1781, this species was first recorded in the wild as an escape from Kew Gardens in 1871 and in Ireland in 1894, and it became one of the fastest spreading plants in the 20th centuary.

Date: 26th July

A much branched, erect plant.


Flowering heads 5-8 mm across, solitary, on short stalks.



Flowering head discoid; ray florets absent.
