Common name: Autumn Crocus

Genus: Crocus 番紅花屬
Family: Iridaceae 鳶尾科, iris family

Origin: Neophyte (established after 1500 AD). It is a native of S. W. France and N. Spain. It is introduced into cultivation before 1600 and was first recorded in the wild in 1738.

Myosotis arvenis 野勿忘草

Common name: Field Forget-me-not

Origin: Archaeophyte (established before 1500 AD.) It has an Eurosiberian Boreo-temperate distribution.

Note the hairs on calyx tube are stiff, spreading and hookedHairs on the calyx is more dense than in Myosotis sylvatica 森林勿忘草, 森林勿忘我, 林地勿忘我.

Flower stalk at fruiting is up to two times as long as calyx. (vs flower stalk at fruiting is shorter than or as long as calyx in Myosotis ramosissima)



Style is shorter than calyx tube. Corolla is equal to or less than 5 mm (vs 6-10 mm  in Myosotis sylvatica 森林勿忘草, 森林勿忘我, 林地勿忘我)

Origin: Neophyte (established after 1500 AD.) It is a hybrid of garden origin. It is a hybrid between Aster lanceolatus 細葉紫菀, Narrow-leaved Michaelmas-daisy (neophyte), and Aster novi-belgii 荷蘭菊, 柳葉菊, 紐約紫菀, Confused Michaelmas-daisy (neophyte). This hybrid is thought to have been introduced into cultivation in 1815 and was first recorded in the wild in 1867.
