Aster x salignus

Common name: Common Michaelmas-daisy
Scientific name: Aster x salignus
Genus: Aster 紫菀屬

Family: Asteraceae or Compositae 菊科, aster , daisy, composite or sunflower family

Origin: Neophyte (established after 1500 AD.) It is a hybrid of garden origin. It is a hybrid between Aster lanceolatus 細葉紫菀, Narrow-leaved Michaelmas-daisy (neophyte), and Aster novi-belgii 荷蘭菊, 柳葉菊, 紐約紫菀, Confused Michaelmas-daisy (neophyte). This hybrid is thought to have been introduced into cultivation in 1815 and was first recorded in the wild in 1867.

stem slightly hairy; leaves margin entire or with a few small teeth

leaves base slightly auricled




phyllaries pale-edged, mostly compresse to the flowerhead with some of the basal ones curved outward a little



petals pale bluish-lilac
