Genus: Fumaria 煙堇屬, 球果紫堇屬
Family: Papaveraceae 罌粟科, poppy family

Origin: native
Date: 1st April
A young plant in an arable field. Inflorescence is equal to or shorter than the peduncle. (vs inflorescence is longer than the peduncle in F. bastardii 雜種煙堇, tall ramping-fumitory and F. reuteri, Martin's ramping-fumitory) There are about 12 flowers in the inflorescence. (vs more than 20 flowers in F. bastardii, tall ramping-fumitory and F. reuteri, Martin's ramping-fumitory)

Photo enlarged below to see the details of the flower buds.
Only upper and lower petals and the sepals could be seen at this stage. The pale green structures are the keel of the upper and lower petal. The pink structures are the sepals. Later petals are still inside the flower buds and could not be seen now.
Photo enlarged below to see individual flower.
Each flower contains 1 upper petal (UP), 2 lateral petals (TP), 1 lower petal (LP) and 2 sepals (SE). K and SP are the keel and spur formed from the upper petal respectively. Note the tip of the lower petal (LP) is not paddle-shaped and with erect margins. (vs lower petal is not paddle-shaped and with spreading margins in F. bastardii 雜種煙堇, tall ramping-fumitory)

The arrangement of the upper petal, two later petals (closed now) and the lower petal. Note the shape of the lower petal. It is not paddle-shaped and the margins are erect.

Flower buds at the top of the inflorescence. The lower part of the flower buds are enclosed by the pair of sepals (the small white leaf-like structures).
Lateral view of the flower to see the shape of the sepals and the comparative sizes of the sepals and the flower. The sepals are toothed. (vs sepals are not toothed in F. reuteri, Martin's ramping-fumitory)
Flower from another flower to see the shape of the sepals again. See enlarged photo below.
Note the shape of the sepal. It is toothed. (vs sepals are not toothed in F. reuteri, Martin's ramping-fumitory) They are slightly differences between different Fumaria spp in UK.
Note the shape of the sepal (S) again. Each flower is linked to the peduncle (PU) by the pedicel (PE). There is a bract (B) at he base of the pedicel (PE). Note the length of the bract (B) is longer than half of the length of the pedicel (PE). (vs the bract is shorter than half of the length of the pedicel in F. bastardii 雜種煙堇, tall ramping-fumitory.)
Another plant. There are about 12 flowers in the inflorescence. (vs more than 20 flowers in F. bastardii, tall ramping-fumitory and F. reuteri, Martin's ramping-fumitory) Photo enlarged below to see the sepals again.
