Luzula campestris 地楊梅

Common name: Field Wood-rush
Scientific name: Luzula campestris 地楊梅
Genus:  Luzula 地楊梅屬
Family: Juncaceae 燈心草, rush family

Origin: native

Date:  1st April

Growing alongside the canal, maybe because of the rhizomes linked together. 

Flowers of different stages.

An erect plant, can reaches up to 15 cm.

Leaves are grass-like, hence it is belonged to Luzula 地楊梅屬.

All leaves are less than 8 mm wide.

The stipule (the green leaf-like structure beside the inflorescence); Inflorescence of 1 sessile and 3-6 (2 in this photo) stalked clusters of 3-12 flowers

Flowers borne in groups of 2 or more

Only stigmas are protruding from the flowers, tepals not yet opened. Maybe the pistils mature first in order to prevent self-pollination - protogyny 雌蕊先熟)

Tepals dark brown; 6 stamens, 1 style; anthers are 3-4 times as long as filaments. (vs anthers are shorter than 2 times as long as filaments in Luzula multiflora 山間地揚梅, 多花地揚梅, 西藏地揚梅, the heath wood-rush and Luzula pallescens 淡花地揚梅, the fen wood-rush)
