Pulmonaria officinalis 療肺草, 耶路撒冷黃花九輪草

Common name: Lungwort
Scientific name: Pulmonaria officinalis 療肺草, 耶路撒冷黃花九輪草
Genus: Pulmonaria 肺草屬
Family: Boraginaceae 紫草科, borage or forget-me-not family

Remarks:

Origin: Neophyte (established after 1500 AD). It is an European temperate species. It was cultivated before 1597 and was recorded from the wild by 1793.

Date:  28th March

A pubescent perennial, can reach up to 30 cm. Flowers are more or less erect.



Leaves are simple, ovate, cordate, with large white spots.


Leaves abruptly narrowed at base.






Flower in glandular inflorescence; calyx divided for 1/4 to 1/2 to its length, calyx lobes sub-acute.

Flower is regular.


Corolla with hairy or papillose oblong scales of folds in throat. (you could see hairy in the throat in this photo). (vs corolla with 5 short yellow glabrous rounded notched scales closing mouth of corolla tube in Myosotis spp.) Stamens not or hardly protruding.

Some pink flower within the same plant. 



The lower flowers with petals withered, maybe they are fruiting now.
