Reseda luteola 黃木犀草, 淡黃木犀草

Common name: Weld
Scientific name: Reseda luteola 淡黃木犀草
Genus: Reseda 木樨草屬, 木犀草屬
Family: Resedaceae 木樨草科, 木犀草科 mignonette family

Origin: Archaeophyte (established before 1500 AD). It has a Eurosiberian Southern-temperate distribution.

Date: 16th July


A tall plant, can reach up to 150 cm




Most of the leaves are simple and entire. Some are pinnately-lobed but the side-lobes are few and near the base of the leaf. 

A very long raceme. Flowers open from the bottom first. The upper flowers start to bloom whereas the bottom ones are fruiting.

Flowers 4-5mm across. There are 4 sepals and petals. Back and side petals (cream structures) are deeply-cut and forked into strips.



 Fruits in form of spherical capsules are forming at the bottom of this raceme. 


seeds could be seen inside the split open fruits (21st July)
